The Division is comprised of 27 Deputies and four K-9’s. It is broken down into four squad’s that work twelve hour shifts. Each squad has a Sergeant, Senior Officer, four Deputies and a K-9.
Patrol Deputies are the most visible members of the Surry County Sheriff’s office. They are the first to respond for a citizen’s call for service.
Patrol Deputies respond to calls for service, conduct initial investigation of crimes, serve arrest warrants, serve civil papers (i.e. domestic violence protective orders, commitment papers, etc.), conduct security checks in the community and at schools and enforce criminal laws while working to maintain the peace and order within Surry County.
