The Surry County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division (CID) is comprised of Detectives that investigate and follow up on reported crimes in Surry County. The crimes that are reported and forwarded to CID are usually felonious, but occasionally are misdemeanors that require additional follow up and investigations. The more common crimes that are investigated are: Murder, Felony Assault, Sexual Assault, Breaking and Entering, Possession of Stolen Property, False Pretense, Identity Theft, Fraud, Stolen Vehicles, Arson, Burglary, and Embezzlement. Occasionally, the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation will be called to assist our agency as well as the Federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms, and North Carolina Bureau of Alcohol Law Enforcement.
