TRAINING AND SAFETY DIVISION

The primary duty of this division is to maintain the highest level of training and develop educational programs that enhance the overall operation of the Sheriff's Office. 

The Training Lieutenant oversees all mandated certification and sets up scheduled training hours for all other divisions. The Sheriff 's Office currently has 11 certified instructors to provide in-service training and also to teach B.L.E.T. through the community college. The Sheriff's Office is continually bringing in outside instructors to provide updated and new ways to better serve the citizens of Surry County.
